Altika Corporation - Intellectual Properties Team The principals involved with the Intellectual Properties practice is a team of professionals who can handle the full life-cycle of intellectual properties. The team will perform surveys to meet an individual or corporation's intellectual properties needs and objectives. The Survey will follow the contours of the four primary Intellectual Properties areas: Patents, Trademarks, Copyrights, and Trade Secrets/Know-how. The IP team consists of: Lars Harrison, President &
CEO - Altika Corporation Mr. Harrison is the President and CEO of Altika Corporation, an international liquidity and strategy consulting company, with core competencies in M&A and Intellectual Properties advisory, liquidity campaigns, commodities trading, international and domestic financial services, corporate strategy and business development / market entry. As a team member in the IP Practice, Mr. Harrison’s specialty is in assisting corporations and individuals with liquidity campaigns (M&A advisory and intellectual properties advisory, and commodities liquidation) in high technology, software, telecommunications, life science, manufacturing, and traditional industries. He has extensive, global contacts, strategic alliances and partnerships with other M&A and liquidity firms, and has a vast network of contacts with executives in various industries. He is also an expert in providing corporate strategy and international financial services for corporations. Mr. Harrison’s education is in the fields of Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration. He grew up in Sweden and speaks several European languages. His international experience covers all continents, with client work performed in the Americans, Europe, South Africa, Russia, India, Asia, and Australasia. Mr. Harrison’s has also served as a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with an e-commerce company, and as a President of an international marketing consulting firm. Some of the clients handled by Mr. Harrison in
marketing and liquidating intellectual assets include AT&T, MCI,
Nortel, NationsBank (former Bank of America), InfoUSA, IBM, HP, Oracle,
amazon.com, ebay.com, and other Fortune 500, mid-tier and startup firms. Russell L. Smith, IP Assessment, Management, and Surveying Consultant Russell L. Smith is President and
Founder of IP Surveys, LLC. Dr. Smith has over 15 years experience in
science and industry with particular emphasis on the biotechnology
sector. He received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in
Microbiology from Clemson University and both his Master of Arts (M.A.)
and Doctorate (Ph.D.) from the University of Texas, Austin. He received
his Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from the University of Houston,
specializing in intellectual property, and was an Associate Editor for
the Houston Journal of International Law. He is also a
Certified TRRU® Analyst
for valuing and licensing intellectual properties through the Patent
& License Exchange. Prior to founding IP Surveys, Dr. Smith provided scientific and technical advice to the Biotechnology Industry through R.L. Smith Consulting. His past experience includes positions as a Visiting Scientist at the Centre d’Etudes Nucléairés de Grenoble, in Grenoble France, a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Biotechnology Institute at the Pennsylvania State University, and Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Texas, Arlington. Dr. Smith has over 40 publication to date in
various journals, proceedings, monographs and other media and has
attended numerous conferences and conventions focused on all aspects of
science, technology, licensing, and intellectual property. David Drews, IP Valuation Consultant Mr. Drews has over 15 years experience as a
financial analyst, primarily concentrated in valuing intellectual
property of all types, including trademarks, copyrights, patents,
know-how, trade secrets, and domain names. He has extensive experience
performing valuations of intellectual property in situations such as
use as collateral, potential donation activities, transactions, joint
ventures, licensing, transfer pricing, and bankruptcy filings. Mr.
Drews holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration /
Economics from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Mr. Drews is also
the founder of IPMetrics LLC, and currently serves as its President. His past experience includes acting as Director of Valuation Services at a large intellectual asset management firm, where he supervised all valuation activity. While there he performed valuations on assets as diverse as apparel, financial services, automotive, non-profit organization and consumer brand trademarks; mechanical, chemical and electrical patents, processes and trade secrets; customer lists; non-compete agreements; and entertainment industry characters, trademarks and copyrights. Previous clients handled by Mr. Drews and associates include AT&T Corporation, Bank of
America, Children’s Television Workshop, Eaton Corporation, Encompass
Services Corporation, ExxonMobil Chemical Company, Ford Motor Company,
Fruit of the Loom, G.E. Capital, Greenpeace, Harvey Entertainment
Company, LA Gear, Marvel Entertainment, National Guardian Life
Insurance, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Société Bic. James D. Palmatier, Patent Specialist Mr. Palmatier (Registered Patent Attorney No. 42972) has over 20 years experience working as a patent attorney, manager and engineer. His legal experience includes preparing and prosecuting patent applications in a variety of electric, electronic mechanical and software arts. He also has extensive experience in the areas of licensing, trade secrets, trademarks and copyright protection. His engineering experience involved the use and sale of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic products focused on industrial applications. He is trained and adept with Aurigin Systems Aureka IPAM software for searching and analyzing patent data. His received his B.S. in Industrial
Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and his JD from
the John Marshall School of Law. Prior experience includes positions of
Program Manager at Aurigin Systems, Vice President of Operations and
Technology at Alexander-Sullivan, Inc., and Area Manager for Rockwell
